HumaneSolution.com focuses its accounting effort on receivables, and offers several rich views of financial activity. You can view a clinic ledger showing activity across the whole clinic as well as client ledgers that detail the transaction history of individuals, grant funds, or organizations. Donations are easy to track, and all income is easy to report on. State sales tax is easy to apply. Multiple tax levels are also easy to set up if you need them. It's easy to track unpaid invoices. You can match payments to invoices and easily apply payments to multiple invoices or vice versa. Invoices can be selectively emailed.

The system supports two different levels of expectations of financial reporting detail. The difference hinges upon whether you invoice every client in the system or just your volume clients. As far as I'm concerned, the system works fine if you don't invoice every client, but this limits the kind of financial reporting detail you can expect.

A general concept of reporting in HumaneSolution.com to be aware of is that there's a fundamental separation between financial and service reporting. The "accountant's view" of the system is not the same as the "clinic director's view." For example, it's not possible to see "revenue by animal" in the system. You can certainly see the dollar value of your surgeries (and any other service) broken out dozens of different ways, but the money you see in this context is what you could have or should have invoiced--not necessarily what you actually invoiced or actually collected.
